For more than three decades, Queenscourt Hospice has been providing essential services to the West Lancashire, Southport and Formby area from a purpose built, ten bed centre in Kew, Southport.
Running costs of seven million pounds per annum are sourced mainly through public donation but by 2026 the charity was more than £2m in debt.
Given the dire financial situation and capacity halved to only five active beds, Queenscourt was in danger of closure so a 'Save Queenscourt Services' campaign was launched.
Poulton Court is a managed scheme of retirement flats in Southport with extensive communal areas where for almost two decades concerts with top-line artists have been arranged. Supported by GMM, the Winter Warmer event is an opportunity to support the hospice initiatives.

Winter Warmer is an evening event with a 5:30pm start in the resident's lounge at Poulton Court, Wennington Rd, Southport on Thursday 12th November. The event will be three and a half hours of great food, fun, music and entertainment. Ticket price was £10 in advance with pportunities through the event to top up donations. A complete sell-out for a capacity audience was reached before the end of September.
The concept is for an event filled with variety and a target of raising donations for the hospice.
Everyone involved with organisation of the event and those providing top line prizes are giving of their time, skills and products freely so that every penny raised can be donated to Queenscourt.

While the sole purpose of the Winter Warmer evening is to raise a donation in support of Queenscourt Hospice, the underlying aim is to have fun and enjoyment at the same time. So with that in mind the top-of-the-bill will be Nick Bertram-Powell, a brilliant singer, guitarist and pianist who will be singing two sets to really bring the evening together.
We don't have a piano at Poulton Court and singer / guitarists have of course headlined our concerts many times over the last 16 years but Nick is something special. Not only will he bring to life covers of popular hits by the likes of everyone from Neil Diamond to John Denver, the Beatles to Robbie Williams and more but his guitar playing is so good that he heads up Liverpool's leading guitar school, teaching guitar students from far and wide.

It's called Winter Warmer because the evening gets off to a tasty start with a tasty hotpot supper by Southport's own Graham Eyes with also a Vegan/Vegetarian option.
Once we've eaten the fun starts with a TV style quiz.

Sandwiched between Nick's two sets, our Bingo features top value prizes including restaurant meals and you get a free card for each game with your entry.
As already stated, the overriding purpose of the evening is to raise a donation in support of Queenscourt Hospice and while the ticket price alone is calculated to raise a sizeable donation there will be other opportunities throughout the evening to top up that amount.
Booking for this event was essential.
Including the resident's lounge and dining area where Winter Warmer takes place, communal areas were designed specifically for residents of Poulton Court so capacity is limited by Health & Safety dictates coupled to on-site reality.
